Dick's Sporting Goods Park (known for short as DSG Park) is a soccer-specific stadium located about 20 minutes by car from downtown Denver that has been home to the Colorado Rapids of the MLS since 2007. The Rapids, one of the founding teams of MLS in 1996, had previously shared two different NFL stadiums with the Denver Broncos that were not really ideal for soccer in terms of layout or capacity, so the move to Dick's Sporting Goods Park was heartily welcomed by Rapids fans. At approximately one mile above sea level, the venue is a difficult place for visiting teams to come due to the altitude and weather (snow games are not unheard of at DSG Park), though the expansive views of the surrounding mountains give the venue quite the majestic backdrop. Prior to moving to Dick's Sporting Goods Park, the Rapids had never made much of an impact in MLS, making the MLS Playoffs most years but only once getting to the MLS Cup Final (a 2-1 loss to D.C. United). The team’s first three years in their new home were disastrous, with the Rapids missing out on the playoffs, but everything spun around in 2010. Despite only a 5th place finish in the Western Conference, reaching the postseason via a Wild Card, the Rapids fought through all the way to the MLS Cup Final, where they defeated FC Dallas 2-1 to win the franchise’s first ever championship. The Rapids have not yet hit such heights again in the years since, but their loyal fans remember and still show up to Dick's Sporting Goods Park, hoping to see their team reach the promised land again. Various supporters groups have now united under the banner of Centennial 38, who often gather on the safe standing area known as the Supporters Terrace. Hungry visitors at Dick's Sporting Goods Park will find no shortage of tasty snacks with the stadium’s inspiring emphasis on local restaurants, with everything from Marco’s Pizza and Mile High Style hot dogs to Cuban sandwiches and loaded nachos on the menu. Good craft beer is also readily available. For Colorado Rapids merchandise, head to one of the venue’s many shops and kiosks.
As well as Colorado Rapids soccer games, Dick's Sporting Goods Park has also hosted many international soccer matches, some featuring the U.S. Men's National Soccer Team, U.S. Women's National Soccer Team, and Mexico National Soccer Team. Some of these matches have been World Cup Qualifiers. Rugby and lacrosse games are also sometimes held at the ground. The venue has been the site of concerts and music festivals by international stars, with the Mile High Music Festival bringing over 40,000 people per day to the venue in the three years it ran from 2008 to 2010. Past headliners at Dick's Sporting Goods Park include Phish (3-4 night residency every year), John Mayer, Dave Matthews, Snoop Dogg, Luke Bryan, Guns N’ Roses, Green Day, Fall Out Boy, Weezer, and many more).
The following large concerts are scheduled to be held at BMO Stadium in 2024:
