Originally a vaudeville theater, the Proctors Theater, located along State Street in Schenectady has over the years become the Capital Region's premier venue for Broadway shows, film festivals, and special events. Set up back in 1926 by F.F. Proctor, it hosted famous vaudevillians and [even] demonstrated television in 1930.
Nearly demolished in the 1970s, it was saved by the Arts Center & Theatre of Schenectady (ACT). With restoration in 1979, Proctors revitalized the community. With ongoing expansions and renovations, it accommodates Broadway productions, films, and local performers, fostering economic growth and civic engagement.
Now onwards, the venue would specifically dazzle culture enthusiasts with an exciting lineup of events. With captivating film festivals and soul-stirring musical performances, there's something in store for everyone.
Events spanning from April 6th to May 2nd, 2024, makes Proctors ripe with unforgettable experiences. Starting with the New York Cat Film Festival 2024 on April 6th, the theater will showcase diverse acts including Jesus Christ Superstar, Blue's Big Play, and The Temptations & the Four Tops.
