Q2 Stadium is a gorgeous new soccer-specific stadium that was built in 2021 to be the home of the MLS expansion franchise Austin FC, the first ever major professional sports team in what is now considered by many to be one of the most hip and livable cities in America (where the NCAA’s Longhorns have long reigned as the only game in town). The state of the art construction of the building uses a cutting edge roof design and open corners to encourage cool breezes to flow through the stadium and cool the interior for both fans and players. Austin FC have had a bit of an up and down introduction to MLS, with the team’s first season spent in the basement of the Western Conference followed by a sophomore surge in 2022 when they not only made the MLS Playoffs but surged through to the Conference Finals (semifinals), missing out on a chance at the championship due to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of eventual champions Los Angeles FC. Big things were expected in 2023, but things never quite came together and Austin FC missed out on the playoffs. Nevertheless, the fan response has been incredible to say the least, with average attendance thus far standing at 20,738, the capacity of Q2 Stadium, with every game thus far sold out. These packed houses have created quite the atmosphere, with fans coming clad in the team colors of green and black, and supporters groups like Austin Anthem, Los Verdes, the La Murga de Austin band, and the Fighting Leslies providing plenty of lively singing and chanting. Hungry visitors to Q2 Stadium won’t stay hungry long, with concessions featuring everything from Black’s BBQ and the “Quesabirria” to vegan bao buns (it is Austin…) and handmade tacos. Does Q2 Stadium host concerts and other events?

As well as Austin FC soccer games, Q2 Stadium has already hosted numerous international soccer games, including World Cup Qualifiers and CONCACAF Gold Cup matches with some featuring the U.S. Men's National Soccer Team and U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team. The venue’s first concert event was held in 2022 with Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic and Fireworks. No concerts or music festivals are scheduled at Q2 Stadium for 2024 yet, but keep your eye on TicketX, as this is sure to change soon!
