After the Jacksonville Coliseum was demolished in 2003, the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena was developed to be the area's modern event center. Building the arena was part of the Better Jacksonville Plan, and since then, it has improved sports and entertainment events in the Florida city.
When the venue was developed, it was known as the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. Many years later, in 2019, the city voted to let VyStar Credit Union become the sponsor for the arena, and the agreement came with the name change.
Before and after the arena was called VyStar, it has always been a hotspot for indoor sporting events and entertaining concerts in Florida.
Since 2003, this renowned arena has been hosting large crowds for entertainment. Elton John was the first artist to hold a concert in this arena in November 2003. Since then, there has been an avalanche of exciting hockey, basketball, and indoor football games mixed with entertaining concerts and shows.
Ariana Grande, Brittany Spears, Justin Beiber, Kanye West, Keyshia Cole, Maroon 5, Usher, and many other popular artists have all graced the VyStar arena stage at some point in their careers. The fun continues in 2024, and these are the upcoming events to look forward to in this Jacksonville venue.
