The Arizona Diamondbacks (or D-backs for short) joined MLB as an expansion team in 1998, bringing top-level professional baseball to the Grand Canyon State for the first time. After acquiring towering (/frightening) sidearm hurler Randy Johnson as well as the incomparable Curt Schilling, the Diamondbacks reached two World Series, losing the first time to the New York Mets but winning the 2001 World Series with a dramatic ninth inning come-from-behind victory in Game Seven over none other but the legendary New York Yankees! That 2001 triumph is still the fastest World Series win by a new expansion team, a record that seems unlikely to be broken. The Diamondbacks returned to the World Series last year in 2023 against their desert neighbor, the Texas Rangers, but lost in five games. Can they go again in 2024 or 2025? Get your Arizona Diamondbacks tickets from TicketX and be there to find out!
A “diamondback” is a type of rattlesnake native to Arizona with a beautiful diamond-shaped pattern on its back (obviously, “diamond” is perfect for a baseball team name).
MLB baseball fans love nothing more than seeing their team take to the diamond against one of their major rivals. Below are two of the Arizona Diamondbacks’ biggest rivalries.
The Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers have a long-standing rivalry based on years of intense competition to control the NL West division. Their rivalry really heated up in the years after 2010 due to several rather unsavory incidents involving batters being targeted by pitchers and the inevitable ensuing bench-clearing brawls (and suspensions). After the Dodgers beat the Diamondbacks in 2013 to top the division and eliminate their rivals, several Dodgers players jumped into the Chase Field pool to celebrate. Having lost the teams’ previous postseason meeting, the Diamondbacks got revenge in 2023, sweeping the Dodgers in three straight games. The Diamondbacks and Dodgers are scheduled to meet 13 times in the 2024 regular season, with 7 games hosted at Chase Field in Phoenix and 6 games at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
The rivalry between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Texas Rangers was generally quite muted through the years despite their (relative) geographical proximity, as the teams play in opposite leagues. The Interleague play led to occasional clashes, but the rivalry really didn’t hit fever pitch until last year in the 2023 World Series, when the Diamondbacks fell to the Rangers in five games. The Diamondbacks and Rangers are scheduled for 4 interleague games in 2024, with the first two games at Globe Life Field in Arlington and the latter two games at Chase Field in Phoenix.
There will be 12 teams who make the 2024 Playoffs: six from the American League and six from the National League. Four of the six will have to play in the Wild Card Series to try to advance to the ALDS and NLDS. Last year, the AL’s 5th-seeded Texas Rangers and the NL’s 6th-seeded Arizona Diamondbacks shocked the baseball universe by advancing to the 2023 World Series, where the Rangers defeated the Diamondbacks, 4-1.
It doesn’t seem either of those teams will get to the 2024 World Series, with traditional powerhouses like the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers off to nice stars in their leagues behind Juan Soto and Shohei Ohtani. And with upstart teams like the Baltimore Orioles, Cleveland Guardians, and Kansas City Royals in the AL and the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies in the NL, there will certainly be four good teams playing in the ALCS and NLCS.
There seem to be only five teams—two from the AL and three from the NL—who could end up meeting in the 2024 World Series. The Yankees have been a pleasant surprise in the Senior Circuit, and oddsmakers at DraftKings currently have Aaron Judge and the Bronx Bombers at +600 (6/1) to win the Fall Classic, with their AL East rivals, the Baltimore Orioles, priced at +900 (9/1).
In the Junior Circuit, things should be a little bit harder with the Dodgers (3/1), Braves (4/1), and Phillies (+850). Two of these three solid teams are likely to have to go through one of the others in both the NLCS and NLCS just to get to the World Series.
With Soto playing so well in the Bronx and big bats like Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, and Anthony Rizzo, look for the Yankees to be in the World Series with the Orioles more talented but still very young. And despite the generational talent of the Braves and Dodgers rosters, look for the Phillies to find a way to advance in October.
Why? Philadelphia’s infield is tremendous, with Bryce Harper (1B), Bryson Stott (2B), Trea Turner (SS), and Alex Bohm (3B). With pitchers Ranger Suárez (8-0) and Aaron Nola (6-2) off to great starts, the Phillies should find a way to outscore all opponents and knock off the Yankees in the 2024 World Series.
2024 MLB World Series Prediction: Phillies over Yankees, 4-2

The first pitches of MLB preseason (Spring Training) are generally thrown in late February, with preseason games continuing on through March. Regular season openers take place in early April. Like all MLB teams, the Arizona Diamondbacks usually play about 25-30 preseason games at various locations (generally in warmer places) to prepare for the 162 games of the MLB regular season. The MLB regular season wraps up at the end of September and is followed by the MLB Playoffs/Postseason in October (if the Diamondbacks make it). Fans should be aware that some preseason games occasionally take place in non-MLB North American markets or even overseas in other countries (such as South Korea in 2024).
While preseason games do not contribute to a team’s record in the MLB regular season standings, don’t completely write them off. Tickets to preseason games are generally cheaper and offer baseball fans the chance for a sneak peek at exciting draft picks and young players who could make a difference in the Arizona Diamondbacks lineup in the upcoming seasons. With tickets to premium seats also available at cheaper prices from TicketX, the preseason might finally offer you that chance to sit in the infield that you’ve always wanted!
Following their oh-so-close 2023 campaign last year that saw the Diamondbacks fall at the final hurdle in the World Series, the team is currently battling their old foes the Los Angeles Dodgers as well as the San Diego Padres in the NL West division for a place at the postseason. The Diamondbacks are therefore desperate to add depth and power through a trade or two before the July 30 trade deadline to hopefully push them over the line and get another shot at the World Series! The mlbtraderumors.com reported that potential trade targets include star pitchers Tanner Scott (Miami Marlins) and Tyler Holton (Detroit Tigers). In the off-season this winter, the Diamondbacks may look to free agents, new talent from the draft, or trades with other franchises to try to strengthen their team for 2025.
Chase Field first opened its doors, and retractable roof, in 1998 to welcome the MLB expansion team, the Arizona Diamondbacks, to Phoenix. While open-air rather than domed stadiums have become all the rage since the 1990s, the summer heat in Phoenix (often termed the hottest major city in America) meant that an open-air stadium just would not be feasible. The Diamondbacks, therefore, opted for an air-conditioned stadium that could be closed during the hottest months of the year as well as the torrential rainstorms that occasionally afflict the area. Other quirks added to Chase Field were driven by fun rather than logic, most notable the swimming pool attached to a suite beyond the outfield fences. The first home run to be hit into the pool was clubbed by first baseman Mark Grace, no doubt the highlight of any baseball player’s career. Along with regular season and playoff Diamondbacks home games, Chase Field hosts college sports, concerts, rodeo events, and motorsports. The stadium was also one of the American venues in several editions of the World Baseball Classic (WBC). Those who show up hungry at Chase Field will find plenty of tempting snacks, with everything from huge ballpark hotdogs to delicious tacos to BBQ on the menu.
Valley Metro Rail can get you to Chase Field if you are based in Phoenix, Mesa, or Tempe. Just get off at 3rd St/Washington Station and walk to the ballpark from there (buy an all-day pass in advance to avoid lining up to buy tickets). Various rail stations also offer Park-N-Ride options so that you can leave your car and avoid traffic near the stadium. Driving your own vehicle or taking a taxi to Chase Field is also fairly straightforward but be sure to arrive early to get through the game day traffic. There is extensive parking around Chase Field in nearby neighborhood parking lots. Booking a spot in advance is highly advisable ($10-30, sometimes as low as 5).
For quick, easy entry into the venue, Chase Field bag policy recommends that guests avoid bringing bags if possible. If you must bring a bag, only clear bags (maximum size: 16” x 16” x 8”), plastic 1-gallon bags, and small clutches/purses (maximum size: 6.5” x 4.5”) are permitted. Seat cushions, blankets, and extra clothing are permitted if carried as is or inside clear plastic bags. All bags are subject to inspection.
A comprehensive list of rules for Chase Field has been developed to ensure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable day at the ballpark. These rules are common sense for the most part, but below are a few key rules to remember:
Banners and Signs banners and signs must be related to baseball and not offensive or commercial in nature. Only flags sold on-site may be used with poles or other supporting materials. Banners and signs must not obstruct the view of other patrons (nor block existing signage).
Cameras feel free to bring your camera to the venue, as long as it is not a video camera or professional camera. Oversize lenses are not permitted (maximum width = 4 inches; maximum length = 8 inches). No tripods, selfie sticks, or other supplementary implements.
Kids Club young fans (15 and under) can sign up for special prizes at the Kids Club Headquarters (Sections 106, 329).
Respect - fans at Chase Field are asked to stand (if able) and face the flag during the American (and Canadian, if applicable) national anthems.
Visit the stadium’s A-Z information page for a full list of rules at Chase Field.
Several good hotels can be found within walking distance (or a short cab ride) of Chase Field. Here are a few decent accommodation options near the venue:
Chase Field is a large stadium that provides visitors with a wide array of different seating options. Extensive premium seating is available in the form of club seats and exclusive suites, including two suites next to the dugouts, one near the batter’s box, and, of course, the aforementioned swimming pool suite beyond the outfield fence. The rest of the stadium is allocated to general seating, ranging from more expensive seats in the lower tier around the infield to cheap seats in the outfield and upper tier. Whether you visit Chase Field on a clear Arizona night under the stars, a blue-sky afternoon, or an air-conditioned escape from the summer heat with the roof on, a visit to Chase Field will be a memory to last a lifetime. Check out TicketX for lists of available tickets to games and events at Chase Field as well as a handy seating chart of seating options.
Fans who have attended games and other events at Chase Field have submitted reviews of various seats within the stadium. According to rateyourseats.com, fans who watched games from the exclusive 1st and 3rd base boxes have raved about the experience with one fan enthusing “Great seats - literally can touch the dirt.” Others have tried out the All You Can Eat Seats in Sections 221-223 and given mixed reviews on the experience. Another fan, who opted to sit up in the 300 level out past right field, enjoyed the views, the leg room, and the tasty food available. Fans who sat out in the bleacher seats beyond the outfield fence generally enjoyed the experience, calling them “home run seats” with the chance (if somewhat remote) of catching a home run ball. Please note that each review is the opinion of an individual visitor and is therefore highly subjective. Experiences and preferences vary from game to game, and person to person.
Because Chase Field is the home of the Arizona Diamondbacks, you’ll have a good chance of seeing top players like Corbin Carroll and Ketel Marte (as well as Zac Gallen, if he happens to be pitching), as well as plenty of exciting players from visiting teams. Get your Arizona Diamondbacks tickets from TicketX and be there to see top MLB players giving’ it their all!
