Oso Oso is a rock band that includes Jade Lilitri on vocals and guitar as the only permanent member. The band originated in Long Beach, New York, and has released four studio albums along with two EPs. Two of their releases, including their 2019 and 2022 albums, were called “Best New Music” by the online magazine Pitchfork. Originally called osoosooso, Lilitri shortened the name because it was often misspelled. The first full-length album was released in 2017 with a second following in 2018. Oso Oso signed to Triple Crown Records that year and released their first EP with that label. The band’s regular guitarist, Tavish Maloney, died in 2021. Their latest album was released in 2024. The group notes that fellow emo bands were influenced by them over the length of their musical careers.
