Social Distortion is a punk band from Fullerton, California that formed in 1978. The band came onto the hardcore scene in Orange country in the 70s but took a break around 1985 due to the lead singer’s drug addiction and law issues. When they reformed, their style shifted to rock-influenced punk. Social Distortion’s overall member lineup has had a lot of turnover with the lead singer, Mike Ness, as the only remaining original, consistent member. However, after 47 years, the group still performs, tours, and records. They have seven studio albums, one live album, two compilations, and two DVDs. Their biggest claim to fame is their 1990 self-titled album, which gave them gold-certified hits. Their most recent studio album came out in 2011 and they have been working on their eighth studio album for a decade. 2015 hit the 25th anniversary of the Social Distortion album, but they plan to release another this year.
