Jade Cicada is an American electronic music producer and artist born Skyler Alecson, originally from the East Coast. Classically trained from a young age by his father, a pianist and music teacher, he later studied jazz theory and sound design at Berklee College of Music. The artist name was gifted to him by his late grandmother, who left him a jade cicada before she passed. His music blends glitchy trip-hop, experimental bass, and psychedelic soundscapes, drawing influence from 1990s hip-hop pioneers. In 2015 he received a major break when Tipper invited him to perform at the Tipper & Friends Festival in Florida, launching his career. He has since sold out Mission Ballroom in Denver and headlined festivals including Secret Dreams and Evolutions, releasing the Lunar Fade EP in January 2025.
