Santos Laguna is a Mexican professional football club based in Torreón, Coahuila, competing in Liga MX. Founded in 1983 as Club Santos IMSS Laguna by the Mexican Social Security Institute of the state of Durango, the club adopted its current name in 1984 and reached the top division by acquiring the Ángeles de Puebla franchise in 1988. One of seven Mexican clubs never to have been relegated from the top flight, Santos Laguna has won six Liga MX titles and has twice been runners-up in the CONCACAF Champions League. The club plays its home matches at the Estadio Corona in Torreón, a modern 30,000-capacity stadium that opened in 2009. Known for attacking football and developing top talent, Santos Laguna is consistently one of the most competitive clubs in Mexican football.
